Lucid Dreaming Sex

Lucid dreaming sex can be a wonderful, realistic, and incredibly vivid experience. In fact, lucid dreaming sex is one of the main reasons many people start out on a quest to dream lucidly. The problem, though, is that sex during lucid dreams can be rather difficult to achieve. You have to have great dream control, and you even have to be able to interact well with your dream characters, since they are often able to turn you down, even in a dream!

Lucid dreaming sex also comes with some ethical issues, since you can experience real physiological responses during sex in your lucid dreams. Here’s what you need to know about sex during lucid dreaming.

Physiological Responses

Several studies on lucid dreaming sex have shown that people have real physiological responses during a lucid dream! Women and men alike can experience many of the physiological symptoms of orgasm during some lucid dreams, but even if they don’t experience the symptoms with their physical bodies, they can experience them in vivid detail with their dream bodies. Men have even been known to ejaculate during lucid dreams about sex.

Lucid dreaming sex doesn’t always come with physiological responses, but it can happen. However, these very physiological responses can threaten your ability to stay in a lucid dream about sex.

Ethical Issues

While I sometimes have lucid dreaming sex, it’s most often with a dream character who is pretty much my partner at the time. Otherwise, I end up getting a big old guilt complex about “sleeping with” someone else while I’m in a relationship.

There are arguments to be made on both sides of the fence. Some people don’t have any problem with it at all since they’re not physically cheating, and others are too freaked out by the concept to have lucid dreaming sex at all. My theory is that if you have serious guilt issues, you might need to look into what’s really behind them. For me, though, I just find it easier and healthier to have sex in lucid dreams with people I’m already with. It’s a fun way to try out new fantasy scenarios, have sex on the beach (which I would never do in real life!), or achieve a little psychological fulfillment when I have to be away from my loved one.

How to Have Lucid Dreaming Sex

Now that we’ve covered all that, let’s talk about how to have lucid dreaming sex. The main thing here is to develop serious control over your mind and emotions while you’re in a lucid dream. It can be hard to remain lucid as you get closer to orgasm in real life – the logical part of your brain just shuts off. So remaining lucid in your dream while you’re coming up on orgasm is even more difficult.

I don’t recommend that new lucid dreamers try to have sex in their dreams unless it just comes naturally. If you’re in a situation, just go for it. But at first, don’t go into your dreams with that single intention, since it could land you in the midst of a lot of frustration.

Once you do start having lucid dreaming sex, make sure you’re interacting with your dream characters, since this can be helpful. Remember, they’re projections of your own mind and memory, but sometimes they can still act as if they have a mind of their own. You can work with mind control techniques to help them give you what you want, but this may not always work. In the end, it’s best to approach lucid dreaming sex as a fun thing you can do in your dreams, but not the end-all, be-all of lucid dreaming for you!
